FAIL TO REPORT AN ACCIDENT (3 DEMERIT POINTS)

 PURSUANT TO SECTION 199.1 Highway Traffic Act, R.S.O. 1990


All drivers involved in a Motor Vehicle Accident are required to report the accident when: 

a) An individual is hurt;

b) There is damage to highway property; and/or

c) The damage in the accident is exceeding two thousand dollars ($2,000).


PENALTY 


Every person who contravenes this section is guilty of an offence and on conviction is liable to a fine of up to $1,000, three demerit points and a conviction on the driver’s abstract for 3 years.
