RUNNING A RED LIGHT (3 DEMERIT POINTS)

PURSUANT TO SECTION 144.18 Highway Traffic Act, R.S.O. 1990


Every driver approaching a traffic control signal showing a circular red indication and facing the indication shall stop his or her vehicle and shall not proceed until a green indication is shown.


PENALTY 


Every person who contravenes this section is guilty of an offence and on conviction is liable to a fine of $325, three demerit points and, in addition, a conviction registered on the individuals driving record for three years.
